Warm congratulations to the five Anna Chaplains and ten Anna Friends who have joined the Anna Chaplaincy team across Devon.
St David’s Church, Exeter saw the commissioning on Sunday 11 June of the latest cohort of a dozen Anna Chaplains and Anna Friends by the bishop of Plymouth, Right Revd James Grier, supported by the archdeacon of Totnes, Venerable Douglas Dettmer.
Devon’s coordinator and Anna Chaplain, Annie Jefferies, said: ‘As always we were warmly welcomed by Revd Prebendary Nigel Guthrie, who also played the organ for this special service.’
‘One other Anna Chaplain and two more Anna Friends will be commissioned in separate services, as all three were fulfilling duties elsewhere in the diocese in their other roles as licensed lay ministers that day,’ she added.
‘We are delighted to extend our team of Anna Chaplains and Anna Friends across Devon to 48 chaplains, offering spiritual support to elderly people wherever they may reside.’
