New films on dementia highlight the work of Anna Chaplains

Updated: Apr 23, 2020

Our Anna Chaplaincy lead in Kent , Julia Burton-Jones, reports on a new film about building dementia-friendly churches:

‘Rochester Diocese has been involved in a project with Staffordshire University to create a series of four films about how churches can be dementia friendly. Three of the films show work in North Wales, Cumbria and Staffordshire; the Rochester Diocese film features St Peter’s Church in Rochester during a dementia café, and the role of Anna Chaplaincy in meeting spiritual care needs.

'Through raising awareness of the distinctive needs of people with dementia and their families, we hope the Rochester film will encourage other parishes to consider how they offer a dementia-friendly welcome to local people and ensure spiritual needs in dementia are met.’

You can watch it on the Rochester Diocesan website.

There's another film, also showcasing good work in this field, on the dementia-friendly church page of the Lichfield Diocese.
