As preparations are made to commemorate the two-minute silence on Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday next month, you might find a free resource from the Methodist Church helpful. The Remembrance Resource on the Methodist website includes chaplains' reflections, other reflections from further afield, suggested Bible passages, poems, prayers songs and music.

There are a variety of prayers featured: prayers suitable for an all-age act of remembrance as well as a more traditional service; a prayer for peacemakers and another for use in a time of hopelessness, for example.

Many of the reflections in the 28-page resource are from chaplains who have served in some of the world's worst trouble spots. Bible passages suitable for the occasion include psalms as well as readings from Isaiah and New Testament gospel readings and epistles. Poems range from ones written by service personnel to others by well-known poets such as Philip Larkin.
