Winchester Cathedral conducted a survey of its community at the end of last week asking how they were feeling at this point in time, with each participant being able to select from a list of words.
Interestingly, the responses were formed into a Word Cloud and the most prominent answers were HOPEFUL and THANKFUL, followed by WELL, COPING and CALM. (Frustrated, Angry, Worried, Sad and Drained were well down the list.)
This survey may well be an indication of a major shift in mood across the country as the vaccine roll-out continues with great momentum and, thankfully, the Covid cases decline rapidly. Other national polls bear this out too.

Dean of Winchester, the Very Revd Catherine Ogle wrote today, 'I really didn’t know what to expect from the survey, and clearly after the past year there are many different, sometimes contradictory, feelings around. But it’s good to know that there is a great deal of hopefulness in our community. As the cathedral opens fully, as activity returns, there is much for us to look forward to!’
