A successful day event in East Yorkshire - Beverley

A second successful day event has taken place in East Yorkshire: Anna Chaplaincy Ministry Lead Debbie Ducille was delighted to return to Yorkshire this past week for a second day event (following a similar offering in York a year ago) this time in the beautiful market town of Beverley, where a team of six Anna Chaplains plus other volunteers and Anna Friends joined forces to engage with church leaders and lay pastoral workers from across the region, with over 40 individuals attending.

Entitled 'Ageing well and how the church can help', Debbie and the team offered perspectives on the season of old age, spiritual care and contextual responses to needs and opportunities in communities with facilitated discussions, plus input from church leaders and a local care home activities coordinator. In the afternoon, three practical workshops were offered on aspects of older peoples' ministry and worship, and the day concluded with a closing reflection by the Revd Dr Keith Albans, Chair of Christians on Ageing.

It was a real boost to all present to have Keith in our midst, who brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the field: Debbie referred to him as The Godfather, or Grandfather of this rapidly emerging ministry!
Attendees were also blessed to have access to a fantastic bookstall, care of Adam Biddlestone (Logos Resources) and a beautiful display of artwork, created by a group that convenes at St Mary's Church, Beverley. All in all, a day involving a huge team effort, with thanks also to Revd John Hoyland at the Diocese of York for his support in planning and on the day.
The day was captured in photographs, but watch this space for a ministry film of this team, and the older people they serve, in the coming months...
