Our friends at Embracing Age have a well established online support group for Christian carers which Anna Chaplaincy is pleased to promote.
Carers Connected offers friendly Zoom gatherings for mutual support, chatting and praying together. All are welcome to join the sessions which are led by facilitators and last for one hour. This includes time to chat and share experiences, a short time of reflection with a poem or song usually with a Christian theme, and 10-15 minutes of prayer for one another at the end. A Weekly Message is also issued via email which includes the weekly reflection and other news relevant for carers; this helps keep everyone connected whether or not they have been able to attend that week.
Sarah Smith from Carers Connected says, ‘Since Embracing Age focuses on “later life in all its fullness”, Carers Connected welcomes carers of adults - usually a parent, spouse or adult child. We are not suitable for carers of under 18s. We are overtly Christian in nature, which is how we differ from the multitude of other groups supporting carers.’
This was some feedback received recently from one of the carers who belongs to Carers Connected, "Thank you for today’s wonderful gathering. Carers Connected really is such a balm to the soul, and, at least in my case, a genuine lifeline. No exaggeration. So thank you."
Carers can feel isolated from their church family at a time when fellowship and support is most needed. Please use the flyer to let carers know about Carers Connected.
