Clever work on the part of a care home resident with a will to see what lay beyond his horizon

It's reported that a 'secure' care home for people living with dementia in Tennessee, USA, has been forced to tighten its security and change the codes for its doors after an elderly man, a resident at the facility, escaped by memorising the different beeps made by the keypad on the door when staff entered the combination.

The man, who had 'previously worked with Morse code in the military' and had clearly used this experience to great effect, was found a short distance away and safely returned – his escape plans dashed!
