They've been having a heatwave... a tropical heatwave up north! We love news of the ingenuity of so many Anna Chaplains. For example, Joan Grenfell (Anna Chaplain in Jesmond, Newcastle) has been in touch after enjoying a Hawaiian celebration in a local care home she regularly visits - 'Elvis' was the guest of honour!
‘It was lovely to see the residents singing along with Elvis....remembering all the words! It was good for me to be there as an extension to what I normally do – often taking in the Sacrament - and be involved in every aspect of what happens with the residents' says Joan.

'Everything has a spiritual dimension, something which was very evident that afternoon. Some of the residents I was photographed with were living with a significantly advanced dementia. I plan to be involved in all the special events that will take place in the coming year.’

The pictures, all taken by Nicola Farquhar, the Activity Co-ordinator at of Craghall Residential Care, show Joan with some of the staff and residents, as well (of course) with a certain famous singer in Hawaii, via Craghall.
‘Thank you so much for sharing these photos, Joan! The ones of you with Elvis really made us smile…' says Debbie Ducille.
