We are pleased to share details of Evergreen, the one-day conference that Pilgrims’ Friend Society is hosting on Wednesday September 23 at Westminster Chapel in London. Speakers include Pam Rhodes, longstanding presenter of the BBC’s Songs of Praise, Timothy Agbenike, Operations Manager at Pilgrims’ Friend Society and Lucy Honeysett, lead coordinator of Christians in Care.

The key note address is from Reverend Mark Wormell who will speak about faith and dementia. There will then be a discussion with experts Pippa Cramer MBE (Seniors Ministry at Holy Trinity Claygate), Timothy Agbenike (Operations Manager at Pilgrims’ Friend Society), and Alex Huggins (CEO of Faith in Later Life).

The afternoon will have a choice of three seminar sessions – one on dementia care with Reverend Mark Worwell, one on church-based ministry among older people, with Alex Huggins and Pippa Cramer, and one on end-of-life ministry with Lucy Honeysett. Pam Rhodes will then lead a session exploring the power of hymns to stir the soul, followed by a time of worship led by Anais and Khaim Spencer.

The day is designed to equip, inspire and encourage Christians who care about or work with older people — in churches, ministries, chaplaincy, or the community. Anna Chaplains will be well-represented at the event which is a bargain at £23 to include lunch and refreshments; it promises to be informative and inspiring.

Faith in Later Life have produced an excellent Bible study resource for older people’s groups entitled Flourishing Faith in Later Life which offers six sessions designed to facilitate warm, guided discussions among older believers, especially those navigating the changes of later life while embracing the opportunity for spiritual growth and renewed purpose.

Whether you’re leading in a home group, church fellowship or care-home setting, these sessions will help you to bring the hope and purpose promised in the Bible and help participants to have a flourishing faith in later life.

The Participant’s Guide and Leader’s Guide can both be downloaded free of charge from Faith in Later Life’s website here:  Flourishing Faith in Later Life | Faith in Later Life

Faith in Later Life worked with Presbyterian Church in Ireland to develop Flourishing Faith in Later Life, as a new discipleship resource designed especially for those in the later stages of life.

The BRF Anna Chaplaincy team feel it will be a great resource for Anna Chaplains enabling Bible study groups in care homes.
