The cool of St Francis Church, Leigh Park in Hampshire, was a welcome relief from the afternoon heat on Sunday August 10, when four more Anna Chaplains were commissioned in the Diocese of Portsmouth, bringing the total in that diocese to 54.

Friends and supporters from the Havant Deanery gathered to mark this special occasion for Margaret and Peter Hellawell and the Revd Sandra Haggan from St Faith’s Havant and the Revd Lizzie Davidson from Warblington with Emsworth.
The Revd Dr Coleen Jackson, who has been so instrumental in setting up Anna Chaplaincy in the Portsmouth Diocese, gave the address during which she drew parallels between Jesus sending out the 70 in Luke Chapter 10 and the ways in which Anna Chaplains minister.
The four new recruits were commissioned by the Assistant Area Dean Revd Jonathan Jeffrey, and Marian Muskett, National Anna Chaplaincy Coordinator, welcomed them on behalf of BRF Ministries.
Tea, cake and fellowship were enjoyed by all after the service – a good chance to catch up with friends old and new.
