Mavis marks Remembrance Day with a little help from young friends

Anna Chaplain in Bridgend, South Wales, Mavis Martin had a very important assignment recently, as she wrote to tell us:

Anna Chaplain Mavis Martin and cadet Phoebe with the Anna Chaplaincy wreath

'Having just finished my year as personal Chaplain to our Town Mayor I was invited to lay a wreath on behalf of Anna Chaplaincy on Remembrance Sunday.

Now I could have done that myself, but as we had a significant number of Army Cadets and Air Cadets I thought it would be great to involve them as it gave me an opportunity to tell them all about us.

The Air Cadet Commander allocated a lovely young lady called Phoebe who would place the wreath for me.

In addition, I was able to introduce Phoebe to His Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant who I had worked with during my Mayoral year. It was a wonderful opportunity to speak with him again and also to connect with Phoebe, who has asked to keep in touch.

Another first and definitely not the last!'
