There's an opportunity to be an Anna Chaplain in Colchester. The Methodist Circuit there is seeking to employ an Anna Chaplain to reach out to older people across Colchester and the surrounding areas.
The advert reads: 'This is a new and exciting role to develop and extend the work and mission of the Circuit. Does your Christian faith motivate you to support older people in different community settings? Are you a strong networker who can build relationships with other people working in this area? Do you have proven experience in developing new ideas and initiatives? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.
20 hours per week to be worked flexibly in negotiation with the line manager and which could include some occasional evenings. 4-year fixed-term contract (with the possibility of an extension beyond the initial term dependent on further funds becoming available).
Salary up to £18,061 (part-time) – dependent on experience. A contributory pension scheme to which eligible lay employees will be auto-enrolled. 5.6 weeks' holiday a year, inclusive of any bank/public holidays. In accordance with the Equality Act 2010, it is a Genuine Occupational Requirement that the successful candidate is a practising Christian.
This role will include working with existing groups within the church and in the wider community, in addition to identifying new opportunities for work and outreach. The post is home-based, with travel to locations around the Circuit.
Anna Chaplaincy training will be provided as part of the induction process. The appointment is subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) disclosure.
