On one of the hottest days of the year (June 21), Anna Chaplains from across Newcastle and Northumberland gathered in the beautifully cool setting of St Cuthbert’s Church, Bedlington.

The day was entitled ‘Refresh and Re-set’, and offered to local Anna Chaplains, Anna Friends and their teams a chance to gather from across the ‘patch’, from Berwick to Newcastle and along the Tyne valley. The aims were to offer space to connect with each other, to share ideas, fellowship and training after a long break from meeting together as a network.

The day was co-led by local Anna Chaplains Susan and Janice, with input from Ministry Lead Debbie Ducille and other local network members who shared expertise on a range of topics in workshops including rural ministry, care home ministry, encouraging best practice, and enriching group conversations in the ‘autumn of life’.
It was a very enjoyable and worthwhile day for all 22 individuals who attended and it is hoped that this kind of local gathering might take place each year, to combat isolation and to create a sense of belonging in the ministry.
‘It was such a pleasure to join the Newcastle network again,’ reflected Debbie, ‘and to meet both experienced Anna Chaplains and those new to the network.'
'The depth of wisdom and the desire to encourage one another, share resources and worship together was inspiring. Our grateful thanks go to St Cuthbert’s for hosting us, and to the diocese for their support.’
Debbie Ducille
