Saying it with flowers for memory's sake

Sarah Lacey is a very busy Anna Chaplain in the Derbyshire Peak District.  At one of our regular Network Get Togethers recently, Sarah told us about the recent 'Forget Me Not Service' she organised at her church in Hartington, Dovedale.

This was a service of remembrance for those who have died in the last year but, as she says, at a more joyful time of year than the traditional All Souls tide.

A gentleman she met quite unexpectedly, gave her some money towards flowers for the service. The words ‘love remembered’ came to her and she was able to create some beautiful displays in church on this theme, for example, of weddings and other significant family gatherings.

As you can see here the results are beautiful. What a thoughtful idea. Sarah is now busy looking more generally at the degree to which each of the churches in her part of Dovedale are 'dementia-friendly'.
