Recently retired Anna Chaplain Wendy Gleadle is asking for help in writing a book about faith and dementia.
A few years ago I studied for a BA in Theology and Evangelism, and my final thesis was on the subject of ‘God and Dementia’. Now I’m fulfilling a long-held dream to expand this into a book! To give myself the time I need for all the research and writing involved I’ve just retired from my role as Anna Chaplain in Chipping Campden.
One section of the book will explore not only how God communicates with people living with dementia, but also how they can continue to communicate with him as their cognitive abilities decline.
And this is where hopefully you may come in! If you have any experiences from your own Anna Chaplaincy work of people living with dementia responding to you leading them in worship or prayer, or any anecdotes of people still communicating with God even if living with quite advanced dementia, I’d be so grateful to hear from you. If you can send me any stories of those you care for, I will be changing all names to preserve their anonymity. No stories are too short or too long!
You can email me at wendygleadle@gmail.com or phone for a chat on 01386 841933.
Thank you so much in advance for any help you can give.
