It's getting on for two years since Jane Wingrove was commissioned as an Anna Chaplain in St Austell, in Cornwall. She has just been interviewed by Rebecca Evans, Truro Diocese' Ministry Development and Inclusion Officer for a regular podcast - CMD Bitesize (CMD, standing for Continuing Ministerial Development of course!).
Jane is an Anna Chaplain based at Holy Trinity St Austell and her work involves visiting the local hospice among other things. She has also helped initiate meet-ups which continue for people still feeling isolated post-Covid. Joining the conversation, too, was Sarah Welply, Lay Ministry Development Officer for the Diocese of Truro.
Anna Chaplaincy Ministry Lead Debbie Ducille says: 'On the podcast, Jane shares news of an exciting social prescribing project where Anna Friends are receiving referrals relating to spiritual needs from the town’s team. It’s a really encouraging listen!'
Jane began by explaining something of the origins of Anna Chaplaincy which began in Alton, in Hampshire, and from 2014 became part of BRF; enabling the model of spiritual support for older people to grow into the national movement it is today.
