Forget Zoom – the Anna Chaplaincy team in Cumbria are going for an in-person conference open to all and with an upbeat theme – writes Debbie Thrower.
'Dancing with Grace: New rhythms in later life' is the title of the 2022 Anna Chaplaincy Cumbria conference. Ageing brings many challenges and, as we support older people on their spiritual journeys, there are many opportunities to find spaces and moments of grace, tapping into the deeper rhythms we live by.
The conference aims to offer an opportunity to learn about ministry with older people from excellent speakers and through practical workshops. We are pleased to welcome Maureen O’Neill, director of Faith in Older People and Debbie Ducille, church lead for Anna Chaplaincy at BRF to share their wisdom and insights.
Workshops will look at: planning for the future; dementia tea services; multisensory ways of praying; create, play and reflect; creating accessible resources; and a session on playlist for life.
We will end the day with a service of thanksgiving and commitment for all who are engaged in a ministry with older people.
The conference is being held at Penrith Methodist Church on 17 September 2022, from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm, with registration and refreshments from 9.30 am. While drinks and cake will be available, we do ask you to bring your own lunch, say organisers.
There is no charge for attending, but you do need to book here.
