Devon's Anna Chaplains boosted by nine new recruits

Bishop of Crediton, Jackie Searle and the new Anna Chaplains and clergy at St David's Church, Exeter.

'It was a wonderful service, and thank you BRF for your prayers' said Annie Jefferies, Anna Chaplain and coordinator of Devon's Anna Chaplaincy teams, as she reported to us this week.

'Sunday's service was conducted very movingly', she said, 'by the bishop of Crediton, Right Revd Jackie Searle at St David’s Church, Exeter on December 18.'

The new Anna Chaplains – Julie, Pam, Jenny, Eve, Alison, Mary, Hilary, Jill and Paul further strengthen the existing teams of Anna Chaplains in Totnes and Exeter archdeaconries (Revd Dr Paul Fitzpatrick being welcomed as the first Anna Chaplain for North Devon).

'It was good to have Archdeacon Douglas Dettmer and Archdeacon Verena Breed support the commissioning of these new volunteers for this important chaplaincy for older people across Devon.

We thank the Venerable Nigel Guthrie and his team for welcoming us so warmly to St David’s Church and in particular Revd Belinda Speed Andrews for representing the local ministry team and supporting Bishop Jackie in leading the service.'
