Many Anna Chaplains have been coordinating the knitting of hand held crosses for care homes and people living in sheltered accommodation. Here is one story among many of how an act of kindness became ‘a big blessing’:
‘A friend gave me a knitted cross for my mother. It turned out to be a couple of weeks before she died. Mum had had a recent stroke so we put the cross in her flexed hand to help reduce the pressure on her palm. ‘It was very special that she held it for the whole of her last week until she died giving us all comfort. Some of the staff liked it too and said what a lovely idea. A small gesture with a big blessing.’
