2018: Lady Monckton (second from left) with Debbie Thrower and the Anna Chaplaincy and Heart of Kent Hospice teams at the Aylsford service at which Bishop of Tonbridge, Simon Burton-Jones preached, (pictured in the centre with his wife Julia Burton-Jones, now Anna Chaplaincy's lead for training and development on his right-hand side).

We were sorry to hear of the death of Lady Monckton, photographed here back in October 2018 at the launch of the Heart of Kent Hospice Anna Chaplaincy team.

Described as a 'passionate supporter and patron' and with a 'devilish sense of humour',

Marianna, viscountess Monckton of Brenchley died peacefully at her home in the county earlier this month. She was 93 years old.

As a stalwart supporter of local causes, Lady Monckton's obituaries which appear in several papers this week paint a vivid picture of 'a tireless local activist and a frequent writer of pithy letters to The Telegraph.'
