A few weeks into her new job and Kate Powell says it wasn’t a case of ‘if’… but ‘when I’m an Anna Chaplain’! Describing her new role as ‘an honour’, she has been telling Revd Gordon Randall, associate vicar for the parish of the Resurrection in Alton, Hampshire, a little bit about her life and her faith journey. Watch the full interview here.
Kate explains in the parish’s ‘Midweek Encouragement’ slot on YouTube, how it had seemed remarkable to her that everything she had done on her CV matched the job advert completely. However, only spotting the job vacancy comparatively late, Kate had just one day to apply.
Since her appointment though, she says all is going ‘really well’, adding what ‘a privilege’ it is to be Alton’s new Anna Chaplain. The market town is the birthplace of Anna Chaplaincy (since 2010) and her post is a part-time, paid one.
Kate will be formally commissioned by the bishop of Basingstoke, Right Revd David Williams, at 10.30 am on Sunday 24 April at St Lawrence Church, Alton, at a confirmation service.
