Remembering VJ Day
As we approach the 80th anniversary of VJ Day on this coming Friday August 15, you may be planning your own local event to mark the occasion?
Many of us may tune into the National Commemorative Event being broadcast from the National Memorial Arboretum on that day, but if you are meeting with a group of older people around that time, you might like to make use of our service outline with suggested activities, which you can find on our website here. It includes hymn suggestions, readings and prayers.
As we recall the human cost of the Second World War, and particularly on that day the huge sacrifices made by those who fought in the Far East and Pacific, we give thanks for all who served. We pray too for all those who find themselves in situations of conflict in our world today and we pray for peace.
