A BBC Radio 4 ‘Word of Mouth’ episode not to be missed!

Yesterday’s episode of ‘Word of Mouth’ (presented by Michael Rosen) on BBC Radio 4 was a masterclass in listening from Kathryn Mannix.

Kathryn Mannix, author and palliative care specialist, is talking about ‘those discussions we would rather avoid. She calls them “tender” conversations. In the moments that really count, how do we respond to someone sharing bad news or raw emotion? How do we listen well? What do we say – and what should we not say?’

The episode first aired last night at 11 pm but you can listen again via BBC Sounds.

This episode is essential listening for those of us who seek to pay careful attention to people in pastoral settings.

Kathryn Mannix’s latest book Listen: How to find the words for tender conversations (William Collins, 2021) is available in paperback from April but is avalaible now in hardback.
