Top marks for spreading kindness

Writer: Debbie ThrowerDebbie Thrower

Well done to Dunelm, the leading home furnishing retailer, for initiating a scheme to ensure some care home residents receive a car or two to raise a smile!

This greetings card dispenser was spotted by one of our blog readers in his local store in southern England one of many around the country.

Dunelm's website shows how their initiative to 'deliver kindness' began last Christmas. Their pledge then: 'Alongside our customers, we will be gifting £20,000 worth presents in shoebox-sized packages to our local Care Homes, Primary Schools and Refuges.

Each year there are thousands of elderly Care Home residents who don't receive a gift at Christmas. More children than ever live in under-privileged homes where receiving a gift isn't a possibility. And during lockdown, an increasing amount of vulnerable women are being driven away from unsafe homes and all of the belongings.

We need your help to bring them some joy this festive season.'
