Village near Bath gets its own Anna Chaplaincy team

Updated: Jun 15, 2023

New Anna Friend Rachel Moore with Wells Anna Chaplain Wendy Haslam and Freshford’s new Anna Chaplain Pam Southam.

We are delighted to have news of the commissioning of a two-woman team in the village of Freshford, a few miles southeast of the city of Bath, Somerset. Anna Chaplaincy lead for Bath and Wells, Wendy Haslam was at the service:

‘On Sunday 11 June, we were welcomed to St Peter’s, Freshford, near Bath by Revd Mike Taylor for the commissioning of Pam Southam as an Anna Chaplain, and Rachel Moore as an Anna Friend.

‘Representing Anna Chaplaincy in the wider area were Wendy Haslam, Bath and Wells diocesan lead for Anna Chaplaincy, and Patricia Hellier, an Anna Friend.’

‘The congregation gave us such a warm welcome. The commissioning was within the service which was joyful and encouraging.

‘Pam and Rachel were clearly being sent out into their new ministry with the blessing of the vicar, Revd Mike Taylor, and the congregation.

‘This was also made apparent as we talked to members of the congregation over refreshments after the service.

‘We wish them well in their ministry and will be in close touch with Pam and Rachel. We hold them in our prayers and will meet for reflection and support and onward training.’
