Church launch of YourNeighbour.org

Writer: Debbie ThrowerDebbie Thrower

'From nothing to a thousand churches in a week,' said the Bishop of Durham, the Right Revd Paul Butler, on BBC News last weekend, describing the success of the launch of new Covid-19- inspired initiative YourNeighbour.org.

Churches are signing up to provide volunteers to buy food, collect prescriptions and offer whatever neighbourly helping hand is needed for those requiring assistance during the current national emergency.

A helpline number – 0300 323 9952 – is being staffed by a team of experts and is available from 9.00 am–5.00 pm, seven days a week. Alternatively you can email: help@yourneighbour.org.

Forty denominations are represented and the response is coordinated by the Good Faith Foundation (GFF), a new charity seeking to combat social exclusion by bringing people together.
