Dementia Adventure is offering FREE dementia skills sessions

The charity Dementia Adventure is providing regular online dementia skills sessions for family and friends caring for somebody with dementia, as well staff and volunteers who support people with dementia as part of their work.

Attendees can connect with experienced dementia trainers, learn more about dementia and receive practical tips to help them in their supportive role. Sessions start with the key building block in the programme – thinking differently about dementia.

A two-hour session covers:

  • Understanding dementia and the common symptoms

  • How dementia affects the senses, communication and behaviour

  • The importance of continuing to ‘see’ the person (and not the condition)

  • Practical ways to connect with a person with dementia

  • Strategies to overcome communication barriers

  • Solutions for adapting the environment

  • The benefits of connection with nature and the outdoors.
