Tom Moore celebrating on the BBC News website

What a remarkable achievement for 99-year-old army veteran, Tom Moore, who's captured the hearts of people around the world by doing laps of his garden for the NHS. Tom has raised more than £12m for the health service.

He said the fundraising had been 'completely out of this world'. Originally, he'd set out to raise just £1,000 by completing 100 laps of his garden in Bedfordshire. But once news spread worldwide, the money kept rolling in from both the UK and abroad, and he's far exceeded his hoped-for total. Well done Tom and the trusty walking aid he relies on for his lucrative exercise!
