Heartfelt love from St Albans

Updated: Dec 14, 2022

Last year she was sewing stars. This year's Christmas project is all about love hearts! Maggie Dodd (our only full-time paid Anna Chaplain in the network) is ringing the changes in 2022, as she involves churches, schools and community groups in her latest initiative to 'show the love'.

Writing several times a year in the Herts Advertiser, Maggie spoke recently about her plans to give the handmade hearts as gifts to care home residents and staff and, indeed, anyone feeling alone and adrift this Christmas.

'In Advent,' she writes, 'Christians are encouraged to slow down, to take time for quiet in the busyness of life and to make space in our hearts for the coming of Jesus.'

She knows from experience just how much these personally made presents are cherished.

On my visits, she explains 'I still see last year's gifts in pride of place hanging on residents' doors.'

Over the next few days, Maggie and her volunteer helpers will be wrapping and sorting them for delivery. Read Maggie's full article.
