Anna Chaplaincy commissioning on Sunday 1 August 2021
We are delighted that new Anna Chaplain Sarah Braithwaite is our latest network member. She writes: 'After many delays due to COVID-19, I was commissioned at Upton-upon-Severn Baptist Church as Anna Chaplain for Upton upon Severn and Surrounding Area.
'The day dawned after having such beautiful weather and it was raining! Undeterred, the service was held cafe-style with some people outside sheltering from the rain under gazebos.
'The Revd Amy Wearing led the commissioning with guest speaker Wendy Gleadle, Anna Chaplain for Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.
'As commemorative gifts, all adults were given biscuits decorated with the Anna Chaplain logo and the children received Prayer Worms, which are being crocheted to be taken into care homes.
'Despite the disappointing weather, it was a day of celebration and spreading of the knowledge of Anna Chaplaincy and the work that is being done.'
Wendy Gleadle spoke of what a privilege it was to be speaking at Sarah's commissioning. 'After months of delay due to Covid, it was lovely to be able to finally welcome Sarah into the Anna Chaplaincy family. A very special touch were the biscuits iced with the Anna Chaplaincy logo! Congratulations and welcome Sarah!'
The prayers worms were made by Sarah while on a recent break in Tenerife and she says she will continue producing them 'at odd spare moments' as well as the door handle hangers featuring a short verse. Others say 'Do not disturb'!
Another lovely idea for small gifts to to take into care homes.
