Remembrance in Downham Market 2025
Anna Chaplain Elizabeth Bryson led Remembrance Services in two Downham Market care homes which were appreciated by the residents and staff.

On Remembrance Sunday she laid a poppy wreath for Anna Chaplaincy at the War Memorial in Downham Market at a ceremony in the afternoon when Churches were invited to lay a poppy wreath. The card reads:

We will remember them

On Remembrance Day, November 11, Elizabeth attended an event at Downham Grange Care Home with residents from two other care homes attending. [1]‘Guests from across Norfolk came together to show their respects at a poignant Remembrance Day event in Downham Market. The event was to honour care home residents and was attended by honoured guests including representatives from RAF Marham, Norfolk Constabulary, RNLI, Anna Chaplaincy, Downham Town Council and The Rawthey Project.
Downham Market Mayor, Cllr Michael Lane, spoke of his “great admiration and respect for our service men and women past and present”. Residents’ memories were read out. Residents were then presented with a Remembrance Day gift by the VIP guests followed by an ovation of thanks for their “resilience” and reassured that their “stories and sacrifices would not be forgotten”.’
After a delicious lunch Elizabeth was introduced as the Anna Chaplain and she talked about those from Downham Market who died in WW1 and WW2, telling everyone about the ceremony in Downham Market Town Square that morning when the names of all the fallen were read out. She led prayers before the Wartime memories of the residents were recounted.
